Tens of millions of hard-working Americans can’t afford their homes and Los Angeles’ homeless crisis is a national disgrace. More than 5,000 of the county’s 580,000 homeless people are children and more than 4,000 are elderly. There are now more than 57,000 people in Los Angeles who lack a fixed, regular or adequate place to sleep on any given night in the county.
